Taxi Fabric art celebrates India, from its architecture (top) to its culture (above).

Getting into a car is usually nothing special. But when you get into a taxi in Mumbai, India, you might see a burst of bright colors. The group Taxi Fabric invites Indian artists to create artwork that becomes coverings for taxi seats, doors, and ceilings. Each design draws on aspects of Indian culture—from the country’s history to the artists’ childhood memories. The goal is to expose people to the work of Indian designers while turning what would be an ordinary cab ride into an artistic experience.
